Best of the Best CHS is a grassroots project created by locals who care about what really makes Charleston tick. We’re not here to sell you a polished list bought with ad dollars—we’re out in the streets, on the docks, in the shops, and at the tables asking everyday Charlestonians who actually deserves the title “best. Our team conducts random, in-person surveys around town to gather honest opinions from residents, workers, and visitors. No online polls packed with fake votes, no pay-to-play. Just real voices shaping the rankings.

How We Decide

Businesses that earn a spot with us are judged on:

• Consistency: Do they deliver the same great experience every time?

• Hospitality: Charleston is built on southern charm—does the business live up to that standard?

• Quality: From food and drinks to services and goods, is it top tier?

• Community Respect: Do locals actually recommend them, or just tolerate them?

• Value: Not about being cheap, but worth what you pay.

We keep it simple: if people love it enough to rave about it without being prompted, it belongs on our list.
